In the series Fixer Upper, we see a few episodes about a home garden Chip and Joanna Gaines want to build on their property. The Garden, complete with a mini Garden shed, turns out remarkable beautiful and magical. We see Joanna’s whole family joining in to plant vegetables and flowers together. The Gaines’ new children’s book. We are the Gardeners chronicles the adventures of staring this garden.

Joanna writes on her Instagram “Our kids book, We Are the Gardeners, is in bookstores today! Here’s a picture of our very first garden- look how little the kids were! I was working from home at the time and I wanted to find a creative way to connect with the kids. So we planted this little garden in the backyard and it ended up becoming our favorite thing to do together. What I didn’t realize was how much the garden would teach us. It wasn’t just the kids that were learning new things, I learned so many valuable lessons as well-both practically and also personally as a mama. I hope you and your family enjoy reading this book together and are inspired to go grow something! 🌱You can order the book at the link in profile or pick up a copy at a bookstore near you! #WeAreTheGardeners”

The book is co-written by her four children Duke, Emmie Kay, Ella Rose and Drake. With newest edition baby Crew in support. Joanna adds to the story: “The garden has always been a place that inspires me. There’s something about digging deep into fresh soil or watching new life burst from what was not long ago just a tiny seed that reinforces what a gift life is. I think that’s part of why my kids have come to love spending time in the garden just as much as I do.”

Joanna’s hope is that families reading the book together will be inspired to start their own little garden’s. There are many beautiful lessons to be learned about hard work, patience and never giving up. Gardening is a great way to help families connect, a group project of sorts!
