Healthy Low-Cal Vegan Eggnog Smoothie

If we knew that a low-cal vegan eggnog smoothie tasted this good, we would have begun making this drink years ago. And it also prevents weight gain! What?!


When Christmas season comes around, the ‘Christmas Cravings’ follow. For me, many of these cravings include sugar cookies, peppermint, hot chocolate and eggnog. Unfortunately, all of these contain large amounts of sugar, fat and other unhealthy ingredients. If you are craving a healthy spin on a Christmas classic, this vegan eggnog smoothie may be just for you!

Traditional eggnog is made with whole milk, egg yolks, cream and sugar. This recipe does eliminate these unhealthy and inflammatory ingredients (or any animal-based ingredients for that matter) but still gives you the spice-filled eggnog flavor with an added nutritional bonus! It only takes a few minutes to whip together for a quick breakfast or in-between meal snack to help you opt for a healthy option and prevent holiday weight gain.

Vegan Eggnog Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (add more for thinner)
  • 2 medium pitted dates
  • 2 medium frozen bananas
  • 1/2 tsp. natural vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of ground cloves
  • Pinch of Celtic sea salt

  • Fat: 3g
  • Fiber: 9g

Directions

  1. Put all ingredients into high-speed blender
  2. Blend until smooth, adding almond milk as needed
  3. Pour and enjoy!
