Is it possible for twins to be born in two different decades? For this Indiana family, the unimaginable happened, when one twin was born in 2019 and the other in 2020. Only born 30 minutes apart baby number two didn’t come out until the new year rang!
Twins Joslyn and Jaxon Ascension were born in St. Vincent Carmel Hospital. Jaxon arrived 30 minutes after his sister on New Years Day. Mother Dawn Gilliam exclaimed, “I guess it doesn’t click that, ‘Wow! We had two babies.’ I’m like, ‘Wow! There’s actually two.’”
“We’ve known for a while that she was going to be born first. She’s been in position for most of the pregnancy. Of course, he was breech. So, it took a while for him to come,” Dawn continued. The babies are now on feeding tubes and will be in the hospital for a while, but are otherwise healthy.
Father Jason Tello added, “Still kind of overwhelmed. Earlier, we talked about [how] it would be great to have them born on different dates. But here we are with this surprise—different dates, different years. That was interesting for us for sure. We’re still kind of speechless…” What a fun surprise to bring in the New Year with their two babies a decade apart!
