Congrats to the happy couple. Tim Tebow confirms his engagement to former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters. Tebow and Demi share a similar faith in Christ and have huge hearts for their communities. Tebow shared with People.com in 2017 about the person he wanted as a life partner: “They have to really love God,” he said. “My faith is important to me—it’s the most important thing—and I need to be with someone who also shares that faith.”
The lovely couple met at a Night to Shine event, hosted by the Tim Tebow Foundation in South Africa. The event throws a prom night for special needs children ages 14 and older. Tim knew Demi’s sister had special needs, so they invited the family to Night to Shine. Tim says in an interview with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb “We kind of met and started talking through that and haven’t stopped.”
Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters is a South African model and the 2017 Miss Universe pageant titleholder. She is the second ever Miss Universe from South Africa. Demi is an advocate for women’s self-defense against violence, and host workshops around South Africa empowering women in this area. Demi herself was a victim of a terrifying carjacking, kidnapping incident in 2017. She managed to escape by punching one of her abductors in the throat and running onto the nearest highway. Nel-Peters is also an advocate for HIV/AIDS issues in her country.

Last year June I was hijacked and held at gunpoint. At first I felt embarrassed to speak about it because I felt like an “easy target” and essentially weak. Sharing my story made me realize that women all over the world face similar situations daily. That’s when #Unbreakable started. My dream and passion is to empower as many women possible with the same skills and knowledge that I was fortunate enough to receive. If we as woman stand together and take hands, we can be Unbreakable. Stay tuned !!! #Unbreakable2018

Tim and Demi got engaged at his families farm near Jacksonville, Florida. Tebow had a bench engraved with the date that the couple met. Tebow flew her family and close friends from South Africa to attend the proposal. When Tebow gave Demi the ring he said: “This ring is internally flawless, just like you.” Demi reveals to People.com “I’m so excited for the wedding, and I can’t wait to spend forever with Tim.”

Tebow once shared how much he prayed for the one. He was looking for someone with a strong Christian faith for a long time. “I’m looking, but I just can’t seem to find anyone,” he told PEOPLE in 2017. “I don’t want to be single; I’m ready to settle down and start a family. I want to have kids. I have so many things I want. No one will be happier than me when I finally find the right person.” We are excited Tim and Demi found each other and wish them many blessings.
