Between unsuccessful attempts using dating websites and apps, disastrous first dates, failed relationships and heartbreak, dating often seems hopeless for those wanting to find an equally-yoked partner. Perhaps the thought of going on another date, meeting another new person and potentially experiencing disappointment or heartache seems unbearable. I get it. The dating scene is intimidating and, at times, exhausting! However, in spite of those disappointments and stressors, you must remember that God will forever remain in control of your life, and His control includes your dating life, too.
Staying down in the dumps is your fleshly response to your defeated thoughts and feelings. After all, words hold a great deal of power, but do not lose heart. You are a child of God, and for that sole reason, you should never lose hope, including losing hope in your love life. “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart” (Galatians 6:9).
Believe it or not, when you have reached a point in life when you feel as though you can’t love anymore or put forth any more effort, God is able to do wondrous things for you and your love life. Pray that you find the courage to trust God, even in the midst of confusion and heartbreak, and His timing will prove perfect, as always. You may be thinking less and less of the dating scene or prospective mates, but God does not share in that lesser mentality because He already has grand, great plans of what your married life will be, despite your doubts, fears and reservations. God orchestrates every last detail of your life, including your dating life. In fact, He has a stronghold over your dating life!
Rather than becoming familiar and comfortable with negative strongholds regarding your relationship experiences and potential future relationships, build a stronghold of the nature of God. Build this stronghold by spending time in His Word, focusing on what you want in your life rather than concentrating on the dreadful possibilities.
Sure, you may go on another unsuccessful date, or maybe you will feel reluctant to meet someone new in the first place, but if you allow the enemy access to your life, he will fill your heart and mind with fear, anxiety, depression and suspicion, and there is no way you will meet the person God has destined for you if you allow the enemy to take the reigns. Demolish the negative possibilities and make every thought obedient to Christ and His Word: “For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.
Dating will not be foolproof, even with your belief in God, however, God’s grace will cover you and position you for a love like none other
On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).
Never forget or lose sight of the fact that God wants you to find love. The vision of love runs rampant in God’s Word, and He has outlined the beautiful, infinite possibilities of love for every one of His children. Dating will not be foolproof, even with your belief in God, however, God’s grace will cover you and position you for a love like none other. “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4).
