Are you searching for the secret to peace? Is your life feeling a bit chaotic or your soul not at rest? Are you craving tranquility, stability, joy and happiness, but have yet to know the meaning or feeling of these words?
Well, can I let you in on a little secret to finding peace? (And no, you won’t have to travel to faraway lands or search for the answer in self-help books, either.)
There is no secret to peace, and there is no hidden location as to where peace exists!
Knowing how to attain peace is not reserved for a certain number of folks, and peace cannot be purchased, either. The truth is, peace is available to everyone, no matter one’s race, economic status or gender because peace can be found in God and His Scripture, and God and His Scripture are available to all. Anyone willing to believe in Him is open to receiving the gift of peace, and God makes this known through His Word. Not only does He make it known that there is not some hidden, top-secret answer to finding peace, but He invites everyone to know Him and His Word, believe in Him, preach the Scripture and share this love and wisdom with others.
Your invitation to peace has no expiration date, but you must be willing to believe and have faith the size of a mustard seed (Matthew 17:20).
Countless people around the world do not have peace because they are searching for it outside the realm of God. Some seek peace through wealth, material possessions, hobbies, affirmations and approval from others, or Earthly relationships, but their eyes are closed to the answer that is Christ. God sent His son to the world, and Christ went to the cross to make way for peace for all of mankind.
More importantly, peace is not found in the absence of trouble. So, if you are waiting for a period that does not involve turmoil or challenges, you are setting yourself up to wait for a peace that does not exist.
God’s gift of peace is so powerful that this level cannot be disturbed by sorrow or trouble. The night before Jesus died in agony, a night Jesus knew was imminent, He spent time comforting His disciples with a message of peace. We truly serve a wondrous, selfless God!
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” —John 14:27
In Jeremiah 29:11, God reveals a special promise—“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” God loves us so much that He makes specific mention of bringing us peace and joy. He came to save us so that we could do away with condemnation, sadness and internal chaos. Peace, light, joy, forgiveness and hope—these are the fruits of the peace of Christ, and by knowing God, loving God and studying His Word, our hearts and minds become at peace because we are led by His spirit.
