Ravi Zacharias recently underwent spinal surgery due to having severe back pain. A few days ago his wife, Margie Zacharias, gave a post-surgery update on Facebook. In the brief post, Margie reassures all that the surgery went well and is considered a success but also shares that for some reason Ravi is still experiencing severe pain in his back and asks for prayer.
The pain is prohibiting Ravi from simple things such as sleep and they are still looking for answers during a “trial and error period.”
Margie asks, “Please keep praying for Ravi, especially his nights. This is a challenging time, and there is still a long way to go before he will be able to pick up his itinerary. Thank you again for your love and care for Ravi and our family. Your prayers and encouragement mean the world to us.”
However, on March 12th Ravi took to Facebook to announce that he now has an answer for what is causing his severe pain:
“While we have assumed this pain was a natural consequence of the surgery, we have learned in the past week that a biopsy taken during the procedure revealed that I have a malignant tumor on my sacrum—a very rare cancer called Sarcoma. Indeed, we now know this is the cause of my extreme pain.”
As Ravi and his family, as well as his team, sort through this news, he is confident that God will intercede and asks that others will pray in agreement that the Lord’s will be done as they are in the recovery process.
