‘Only One Life’: What Will Be the Impact of Your Life?

Share:

In "Only One Life," Green and McAfee tell the stories of world-changing women, encouraging readers to play an irreplaceable role in God’s story by intentionally investing their God-given time and talents in the people they meet every day.

Countless bronze monuments in American parks and town squares stand as silent reminders of the exploits or achievements of manly generals, inventors and founders. Yet women, whose legacies are often forged in quieter, less visible ways, are rarely recognized for their impact.

Jackie Green, co-founder of Museum of the Bible and wife of Hobby Lobby president, and Lauren Green McAfee, Hobby Lobby Corporate Ambassador, want women to know that they are uniquely poised to have an impact on the lives of those around them, and challenge them to live legacy-minded in their upcoming book, “Only One Life: How a Woman’s Every Day Shapes an Eternal Legacy.”

“On these pages we plan to reveal the under-appreciated truth that Christian women can and do lead; and furthermore, that history is filled with examples of bold, courageous, innovative women who loved God and rose to face the challenge of their times, forging a lasting impact on the course of human events in the process,” write Green and McAfee. “In every respect, these women were just like you and us.”

They examine 12 characteristics of legacy through profiling 36 women who have and are leaving remarkable legacies, including women of the Bible (Esther, Mary Magdalene, Deborah and more), women of history (Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, Florence Nightingale and more), and women of today (Christine Caine, Joni Eareckson Tada, Lauren Scruggs Kennedy and more).

History is filled with examples of bold, courageous, innovative women who loved God and rose to face the challenge of their times.

“Let’s use our precious days on earth to make an impact that will last. No matter who you are, no matter what qualifications you feel you have or don’t have…we have 24 hours in a day, and we have a desire for God to use our lives for His glory. So let’s be women who get busy doing good with the time that we have.”
