Jonathan Morgan, from Milford Haven, had an extra Wales vs. Italy ticket and did not know what to do with it. The rugby game was the Wales Six Nations opener versus Italy. Jonathan and his friends had a spare ticket to the Principality Stadium game so they decided to give the ticket to an unexpecting homeless man.
Jonathan shared, “One of the boys couldn’t go, so we had his ticket. I said we should give it to someone who’s homeless. As we were walking to the game, he was just sitting there. Just before the anthem, he came in. He cried during the anthem. He said it was one of the best things that had ever happened to him.”
The man’s name was Simon and he gladly accepted it. It was his first time inside the stadium, the group bought him drinks and a hot dog. Wales ended up winning 42-0. What a treat!
Jonathan’s daughter Natassja posted an image of the pair on Twitter that went viral. She wrote, “Couldn’t be prouder of my dad. At the Wales vs Italy match, he had a spare ticket and met a homeless man on the street who he gave the ticket to. [It] made this man’s year and said it was the nicest thing anyone has ever done for him! The smile says it all.”
Jonathan ends with this, “I didn’t do it for anything like that. I haven’t even got Twitter. I think he enjoyed himself. A good day out.”
