Is This What Heaven Looks Like? Man Captures Phenomenon of Light Pillars Dancing in the Sky

When a young father in northern Ontario woke to his young son crying, he was astonished at what he saw dancing outside the window in the heavenly night sky.

Timothy Joseph Elzinga, known as Timmy Joe PC Tech on YouTube, couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Determined to get a better look, he immediately headed outside for a midnight adventure in an attempt to capture the dancing light pillars filling the sky.

“Although Elzinga wasn’t sure what he was seeing at the time, the phenomenon has since been identified as light pillars,” Cottage Life reports. “Light pillars are the result of light reflecting off the facets of ice crystals floating through the atmosphere relatively close to the ground.”

Timothy commented on Imgur that the phenomenon was “Not northern lights but light being refracted hundreds of feet in the air by…tiny ice crystals formed by -18 degree weather.”

He told CBC News, that the pillars were even brighter in person. So bright, in fact, that they almost seemed supernatural.
