Lauren Daigle gave a dazzling performance at the BBMA’s this year. Plus you will be surprised to know who encouraged Daigle to pursue the music industry before all of her success.
Lauren Daigle is an undeniable talent and amazing soul. Her album Look Up Child was so embracingly honest, and has had much global impact. Her songs have led her to one of the largest stages in music this year as she performed to millions at the Billboard Music Awards.
Something you may not have known about Lauren Daigle was that fellow singer Miley Cyrus actually encouraged Lauren to pursue music. Daigle ran into Cyrus randomly in Los Angeles after her time on American Idol. Cyrus believed in her so much that she told her mom about her. Miley’s mom met with Lauren and ended up giving her encouraging advice for her career.
Daigle performed at the MGM Garden Arena in Vegas this year for the Billboard Awards. You Say, her runaway hit has inspired millions, marking her fourth No. 1 on the Billboard Christian Airplay list. The performance was intimate and stripped back for Daigle, which was pretty epic for an arena of that size.
In an interview with Billboard, she talks about the song meaning, “I think, honestly, people just want that message of hope. They just want something truthful to hold onto and to believe about themselves, and there are so many different ways that the world can cut you down and hurt you.” She shares that You Say aims to “build people back up.”
Daigle won the 2019 Billboard Music Award for Top Christian Artist, album and song. Her song You Say was the most Shazamed song of the night. From not making it on the hit show American Idol to current mentor on this season, Lauren proves that nothing and no one can hold you back. With the right people believing in you and your faith in God you can do amazing things!
