Infamous basketball star, Lamar Odom who was notoriously once married to Khloe Kardashian announced on social media that he gave his life to Christ this past weekend.
The powerful news comes after years of drug abuse, scandals, overdoses and sexual escapades—many of which have made headlines in recent years. And even more which he candidly shared in his tell-all memoir Darkness to Light.
I had to show Jesus my appreciation for keeping me alive!
Odom boldly took to social media sharing the good news, “Nowadays I’m doing the best I can in walking with the Lord. Thanks to Pastor Vernon @drravernon , I got saved at @thewordchurch this weekend. I had to show Jesus my appreciation for keeping me alive!”
Lamar’s humble life-changing acceptance of Christ over the weekend, while surprising to many, comes on the heels of his recent intentional efforts to turn his life around. Case-in-point, his delightful run on Dancing with the Stars this season where he was paired with dancing pro Peta Murgatroyd. A stint that one would be remiss to not have observed his softened and changed demeanor from the Odom we once knew.
Not to mention his committed and adorable relationship with health and life coach, Sabrin Parr. Speaking of their relationship, Odom shared “The look on @getuptoparr face is how she makes me feel every day.”
“Outside of my daughter, this is the most serious and committed relationship I’ve ever been in with a woman.”
Odom was quick to focus on his changed life: “I’m tired of people asking me questions about my ex’s based on old interviews and old comments! I said what I said then based on where I was in life at that time. I was young, wasn’t sober and going through a lot. All of that is different now. I’m at where I want to be at!”
It is rumored that Parr was with Odom when he accepted Christ over the weekend. She commented on Lamar’s post stating, “Nothing better than a man of God! Keeping pushing through life baby!! God willing I’ll be right here by your side!!!!”
We couldn’t be happier to welcome our brother into the family and wish him all the best in his renewed life in Christ.
