Basketball legend, Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter died today in a Southern California helicopter crash leaving behind three daughters and his wife, Vanessa. He was only 41-years-old.
It is reported that Bryant and his daughter were traveling around 10 am Sunday morning in his privately owned helicopter in Calabasas, CA when a fire broke out, causing the aircraft to spiral out of control. There were no survivors and at least five passengers were tragically killed.
According to TMZ Sports, “Kobe has famously used a helicopter to travel for years—dating back to when he played for the Lakers. He was known for commuting from Newport Beach, CA to the STAPLES Center in DTLA in his Sikorsky S-76 chopper.”
TMZ confirmed that Bryant and his daughter, Gianna, “were on their way to the Mamba Academy for a basketball practice when the crash occurred. The Academy is in nearby Thousand Oaks.”
Bryant is survived by his wife, Vanessa, and their three other daughters—the youngest not even a year old.
Please join us in praying for Bryant’s family and community, as well as those of the other passengers who perished, at this time of immense grief and shock.
