With prayer and even preaching, celebrities like Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom and DMX have attended these church like gatherings. Kanye has performed gospel songs like Christian Grammy award-winning artist Fred Hammonds This is the Day. Former The Voice contestant Keisha Renee also posted the moment Kanye announced to his choir that they would be performing at sunrise on Easter at Coachella this year!

Kanye’s Life of Pablo album had gospel-infused themes throughout. Could he be making a return to more biblical themes in his music? The Sunday Services have contagious energy that does make you want to dance. Seeming more like a celebration of music and life, as the 50 person choir remakes songs into soulful renditions of the spiritually charged call and response musicality of gospel.

To create the church aesthetic is one thing, but to allow actual praise in is another. Gospel music originates in the 1800s as a deeply rooted rich African-American church tradition. The hymns, spirituals and sacred songs, contain hand clapping and foot stomping with intricate harmonies that will make your soul soar. Kanye’s concert is inspired by this rich spiritual heritage and it comes through.
