Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.’

In a recent Instagram post, Grammy-award-winning artist, John Legend shared a narrated teaser to his Preach release, “I grew up in the church and one of the things we talked about was loving our neighbors as we love ourselves.”

The song, derived from the pain and brokenness Legend has seen throughout our culture, is an anthem of turning love and prayers into action. One where Legend bolding declares the song’s battle cry: “I can’t just preach.”

In a follow-up teaser on Instagram to Preach’s release, Legend sings, “I can’t sit and hold back. Can’t just sit and pray that….when all I see is pain, fall onto my knees, and though I do believe, I can’t just preach.”

Faithwire reported, “According to Billboard, Legend performed Preach in June during the Families Belong Together rally in Los Angeles, protesting the separation of families at the U.S.-Mexico border.

In a tweet about the rally, it was said, “Singer John Legend just sang his new song ‘Preach’ to protesters in Los Angeles. Before that, he said: ‘You can’t just talk about it or tweet about it. You’ve got to do something.’”

Veronica Rocha, a CNN reporter quoted Legend as saying prior to singing Preach, “You can’t just talk about it or tweet about it. You’ve got to do something.”

Preach releases this Friday, February 15th on all streaming platforms.
