There’s coincidence and then there’s something else.
Comedian Jeff Foxworthy regularly hosts a Bible study for the homeless, and meeting new people and hearing their stories of overcoming, perseverance and victory never gets old—especially when it comes to hearing about the turning point moment of finding faith for the first time.
But there’s one story that’s stayed with Jeff even years after he heard it.
“We had a guy tell us this story of how he inherited $70,000 and just lost his mind,” Jeff begins, “[he] started partying, had two girlfriends, starting doing crack, quit going to work and lost his job.”
Eventually, his drug habit cost him everything. He was living in hotels with all his belongings reduced to a few suitcases and a backpack. In the backpack was his only possession from childhood: A Bible that his mother had given him with a love letter written inside.
After living on the streets for a year and half, he had lost the backpack and the Bible. In attempting to turn his life around, he got a job cleaning out an apartment building 100 miles away from where he had been living.
What he found in that apartment building proved to be life-altering.
Watch Jeff tell the miraculous story in the video above.
