DawnCheré Wilkerson is the pastor of Vous Church in Miami with her husband, Rich Wilkerson. Christine Caine is the co-founder of A21 and founder of Propel women’s ministries. This pair is a powerful preaching duo. They are walking us through how influential our thought life can be in leading us closer or farther away from God.

The ladies are journeying through A.W. Tozer’s 7 Rules of self-discovery. Stopping at rule number two, “What do you think about the most?” Our thought life is of prime importance and weight to God, He wants to make us masters and rulers of it, for His glory.

In the book of 2 Corinthians, it reads “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5).

Caine paints the picture that our thoughts are like a train. We get to choose which train of thought we jump on. Whether it’s stress, anxiety, depression or setting our thoughts higher on the things of God, we have a choice. Caine shares how she wrestled with these thoughts, coming from a background of years of sexual abuse. Thought patterns that God alone had to break.

Caine challenges us that our thoughts need to take us to places of joy, peace, kindness, love and goodness. If things or people or even social media accounts we look at do not bring us into those thought stations, they need to be course corrected. Do not let the train sit in the platforms of gossip, fear and negativity, get off at another stop.

Replace those trains of thought with the promises of God; Every divergent pessimistic thinking with the word of God, which is, in essence, the fuel for the train. Caine and Wilkerson give us that much-needed encouragement when dealing with the battlefield of the mind. You have the victory over your thought life through Christ.
