Is there a dream in your life that you’ve been working really hard for but no matter how hard you try, the door just doesn’t seem to be opening for you? Then this little nugget, teaching us how to trust God, from our very own Seth Dahl is just for you.

Children’s pastor, Seth, learned an important life-lesson when watching his daughter trying really hard to open their sliding door so that she could go outside and play on her swing set. “She wanted to go out and swing so much that she tried to open the door by herself,” says Seth. What his daughter didn’t realize was that no matter how hard she tried sliding doors just don’t push open!

“She thought she had to do it all in her own strength,” says Seth who came and stood right behind his little waiting for her to notice that he was there to help. Eventually Seth’s daughter turned around to find her daddy, “She looked up at me and she said ‘Dada,’ and as soon as she did, I slid the door open and out we went.”

Seth, who loves pulling profound insights from everyday life, saw this little moment as a great example of the ways in which so many of us try to make things happen in our own strength and not God’s. “A lot of times in our lives we’re trying to open doors by pushing them open but they don’t open that way.”

Seth brilliantly ties this story to God and encourages us to push a little less and trust God a little more. Give this video a watch, and tell us what you think!
