In today’s class, we’re getting schooled by Totally Accurate History’s kid professors on the history behind one of our favorite breakfast foods: waffles. In a lesson that’s sure to be tantalizing to our tastebuds, we’ll be able to sink our teeth into some little-known details of the story as told by kids.

While we can’t guarantee beyond all reasonable doubt the absolute and surefire reliability of everything these kids have to say, we can, however, guarantee their cuteness!

Waffles, invented in Belgium, were first made by “the chef of the prince.” Which chef? Which prince? Does it really matter?

The prince said, “Wow this pancake tastes good. It would taste better if it had holes in it.” And that’s all the inspiration that the prince’s chef needed to make it happen, thus blessing the rest of breakfast-eaters for all eternity with the creation of waffles.

“And then he put ketchup on it.” Enough said.
