While baskets are a gold standard on Mother’s Day, you can offer Mom a throwback by curating one that shows off some of your best (and most delectable) work.

In this episode of Giftable, expert DIY gift-givers, Julianna and Natasha, share an alternative on the traditional gift, featuring made-from-scratch rosemary and caraway crackers tucked among some of Mom’s favorite things.

Rosemary and Caraway Crackers

Making the crackers:

You’ll Need:

  • food processor
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. caraway seeds

Directions:

  1. Combine dry ingredients in a food processor.
  2. Add in butter and blend.
  3. Add in water and blend.
  4. Roll dough into a ball and wrap in plastic.
  5. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  6. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface and use a one-inch round biscuit or cookie cutter to shape approximately 28 crackers.
  7. Arrange discs on a baking tray and bake at 350° degrees F for 15 minutes.

Assembling the gift:

You’ll Need:

  • softened goat cheese
  • clear jar
  • 1 rosemary sprig
  • empty 6-egg carton

  • twine
  • decorative stamp
  • light-colored paint and brush or sponge
  • straw filling or grass
  • decorative tea towels
