In My Day is dedicated to celebrating the wisdom that the older generation can offer. In this episode, we are introduced to Arlene and Robbie Harden. These sisters, along with their brother Bobby, formed the country music group The Harden Trio. Arlene and Robbie nostalgically reflect on some of the world-famous musicians they worked with over the years, like Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings. However, no one was as well-known as Elvis Presley. Robbie appreciated Elvis’ talent, but was always baffled by the impact he seemed to have on his female fans. But, my goodness alive, the women acted so crazy, it made me ashamed that I was a woman.” Are women still losing control around attractive young musicians? You’ll have to ask Harry Styles that question. As we age, more and more loved ones begin to pass away. Arlene and Robbie touchingly pay tribute to their family members who are no longer living. They also are grateful for the comfort that they have been able to offer one another as sisters, each processing their grief of losing their loved ones. “I think every time we lose a family member, it brings us all closer together,” Robbie reflects. “This is what keeps us together and tighter.”
