As kids, we’re told to leave our cuts and bruises alone so they have a chance to heal—because wounds can’t heal if they’re constantly reopened.

In this episode of Stay Coached, Nathan Pirtle explains how this concept also applies to emotional wounds, not just physical ones. “How many times have you done this: someone hurts you very deeply, and you relive that moment over and over again in your head.” But by doing this, we never give ourselves a chance to recover. It’s certainly hard to put painful experiences behind us, but when we give emotional wounds time to heal, those wounds can become a thing of the past.
