“When your kid is whining, you can say, ‘hey, I want to help with this, but let’s talk about it when your voice sounds like mine.’ When you do that, and you actually wait until their voice sounds just like yours, then what you teach them is that whining is not how you get your needs met.”

Seth goes on to explain the reason why children learn to whine in the first place—as babies they cry to communicate that they need attention from their parents, so whining as they grow to be children is the natural evolution of them attempting to express their feelings.
