When you hear the word “toast,” you might instantly think of the bland counterpart to eggs and bacon. But don’t jump to conclusions quite yet! Today on The Brekkie Series, Kara Elise is back to transform toast. Her waffle-toast combinations are sure to not only look incredible but taste the part too.

So mix up your morning routine by indulging in one of these tasty but healthy treats before heading out the door for your day. From sweet to savory, Kara’s six step-by-step waffle-toast options will be just the kick start you need. And now, a toast to simple, fun and beautiful breakfast creations!                                         

You’ll Need:
  • 6-8 boxed waffles
  • For the first waffle:
    • Goat cheese
    • Blueberries
    • Honey
  • For the second waffle:
    • Cream cheese
    • Sliced strawberries
    • Fresh basil
  • For the second waffle:
    • Hummus
    • Sliced avocado
    • Sunflower seeds
  • For the fourth waffle:
    • Pesto
    • Sliced heirloom tomatoes
    • Fresh basil
  • For the fifth waffle:
    • Ricotta cheese
    • Raspberries
    • Mint
  • For the sixth waffle:
    • Almond butter
    • Banana
    • Hemp seeds
Directions:
  1. Toast waffles in oven until crispy.
  2. For the first piece of toast, add on a layer of goat cheese, then a handful of blueberries and drizzle with honey.
  3. For the second, spread a layer of cream cheese, followed by sliced strawberries and finish with minced basil.
  4. For the third treat, spread a layer of hummus, place on sliced avocado and top with sunflower seeds.
  5. For the fourth, spread on a thin amount of pesto, place sliced heirloom tomatoes on the waffle, then top with fresh basil.
  6. For the fifth toast creation, layer on ricotta cheese, decorate with raspberries and finish with fresh mint.
  7. Last but not least, for our sixth piece, spread almond butter onto the waffle, followed by slices of banana and sprinkle on hemp seeds.
