If your kids are always looking for ways to help out with the cooking or want to participate in making their food, this video is for you! Beau Coffron, our host of Dad Does Lunch, is showing us how to make a lunch that gets your kids involved and allows them to be creative with their lunch by building it themselves with this “build your own lunch.”

You’ll Need:

  • 1 slice of whole wheat bread
  • 1 slice of white bread
  • 1 slice of cheese
  • 1 slice of meat
  • paper cupcake holders
  • variety of vegetables
  • hummus
  • decorative food picks

Directions:

  1. Cut one slice of whole wheat bread and one slice of white bread into four equal pieces.
  2. Stack pieces in the main compartment of the lunchbox.
  3. Repeat with a slice of cheese and a slice of meat, using paper cupcake holders for dividers if desired.
  4. Fill one side compartment of the lunchbox with a variety of your child’s favorite vegetables.
  5. Spoon hummus into the second side compartment for maximum dipping fun.
  6. Place decorative food picks into the slices of bread to keep them in place.
