Jeff, like so many of us, recalls falling into the trap of thinking that he was the center of the universe.

“I remember being in Kenya—we slept in these little tents—and looking up at the stars and realizing for the first time, I’m actually not the center of the universe. There’s actually billions of people, all of us striving to fulfill our dreams.”

Yes, we know in our hearts that we are just one grain of sand on the vast beach of humanity, but Jeff reminds us how to actually live with this reality directing our perspective, sharing that he has grown to value the posture of self-awareness.

“How does the world see you?” he asks. “Because that will help you be able to work in the world. And if you can meet people where they are, rather than expect them to come to where you are, you will be ahead of so many people.”
