Devotional: When the Heaviness Is Too Much to Bear

I’ve come to bring relief. I’ve come to set you free. Now is the time to rest, relax, regenerate. Lay your burdens down, right where you are. Don’t give them a second glance. Heave them at my feet. Come, rest and recharge.

I’ve come to bring relief. I’ve come to set you free. Now is the time to rest, relax, regenerate. Lay your burdens down, right where you are. Don’t give them a second glance. Heave them at my feet. Come, rest and recharge.

Rest in me. Exhale, releasing that tightness in your chest. Inhale, breathing in my peace and calm. Breathe me in. Feel the freedom that only I can give. The freedom I paid a price to win. Set down the bags you have been carrying… That heavy load, see how it stoops your shoulders with the weight of fears. Your limbs bending and buckling under its oppression.

I’ve come to bring relief. I’ve come to set you free. Now is the time to rest, relax, regenerate. Lay your burdens down, right where you are. Don’t give them a second glance. Heave them at my feet. Come, rest and recharge. I know you are tired. I see your toil on the long and winding road. Let my way be your compass. Let my word be your guide.

I desire to be known, as I know you. Come find the words I long to say. The freedom I ache to bring. I know the way through the bends and the hills. Let my love be a lamp to your feet in even the darkest of moments. Take my strength. Take my courage. Come, have all of me.

Don’t over complicate things by allowing your mind to fill with endless chatter. The noise, it must bow. The distraction, too. Tell it what it must do.

Embrace the simplicity of my victory. Grab hold, with both hands. Don’t hold back. Free your hands of burdens carried too long. Together we will dance. Together we will declare. My love is your North Star. You know who I am. You know where I am. Come, breath in my calm. Take in my peace. Feel the joy of surrender. Rest yourself in me.

Your great mighty well.
