Britt Nilsson talks about her experience as a contestant on "The Bachelor." With the right perspective, even heartbreak and rejection can lead to growth.

Meet Britt Nilsson, former contestant on “The Bachelor.” She sits down with us to talk about strength in the struggle, specifically regarding her experience on “The Bachelor.” Britt, who thought going on the show would be an adventure, confesses that she “really was not prepared.” She found herself having to dig deep to discover where her identity truly comes from.

When she found that, because of the show, many people had a negative opinion about her, she realized how much weight she had placed in positive affirmation from peers and in being validated by others.

In the end, she found that “…it all had to come from within.” And now, she wouldn’t take back the experience because of how much it strengthened her, saying, “Now I’m super grateful; I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

Other than her astounding insight into finding our own identity and overcoming heartbreak, Britt also answered some fun questions for us and we love her answers!

  1. LW: Favorite item in your bag?
    BN: Headphones!
  2. LW: Favorite type of exercise?
BN: Walking outside with music on, sunny day, breeze! Woo woo!
  3. LW: If you were an animal, what would you want to be?
BN: Some type of big wild cat; I’m kind of obsessed.
  4. LW: Do you have any nicknames?
BN: Britty, Bert, Misty Misty Mooly. Not kidding.
  5. LW: Describe your perfect Saturday.
BN: Coffee, journaling (every day!), exercise, making lunch and listening to music (usually with Jer), running errands (I don’t know why but I think that errands are so fun), fire in the backyard, movie/documentary, dinner.
  6. LW: What’s your go-to karaoke song?
BN: Anything by the Beatles, because then everyone will sing along!

  8. LW: What was the best meal you ever had?
BN: One time I took my little brother to Thai Patio (our favorite Thai restaurant) and ordered anything and everything on the entire menu that looked good…I have had so very many fond recollections of that meal that it’s almost absurd.
  9. LW: What’s something people never get from a first impression of you?
BN: The whole story. But I hope, more and more, that they get a good glimpse of the real me.
  10. LW: What’s your least favorite word in the English language?
BN: I was going to say “moist,” but if I am completely honest, my least favorite is definitely “shame.” And by the way, there is no immediate correlation between those two words in my life, just in case you were wondering!
  11. LW: Favorite word?
    BN: JOY!!!
