The beautiful butterfly has always seemed like a sign from God in my life, reminding me that even though we may feel alone, we are not—God is always there, loving us.

Over the course of my life, I have seen butterflies appear in all sorts of unexpected places—on the side of a truck on a rainy day, on a billboard during a long mountain drive, in a thoughtful gift from my husband or even in a piece of jewelry. Whenever I’ve needed a sign of hope, there seemed to always be a butterfly close by to serve as a reminder of God’s love.

“Box of Butterflies” is a deeply personal book that shares stories from my life, alongside quotes, poems, scripture and artwork that I pray will uplift you as they have me. Each grace-filled chapter covers topics such as courage, strength, gratitude, love and kindness.

The story from “Box of Butterflies” that I share with you today is about my time playing Monica on the show, “Touched by an Angel.” As a woman of faith, I loved being able to bring a message of hope through the television and into living rooms all across the country every week, reminding viewers of God’s love and providing comfort to those that truly needed the reminder.

I loved playing Monica, and I learned so much from her—she taught me to be a better listener by encouraging me to listen not just with my ears, but with my heart. Because I played a beloved character, full of kindness and grace, fans of the series felt comfortable and trusted me with their stories. Consequently, I heard many stories over the years of how people had struggled, the challenges they faced when they were knocked down and how, with God’s help, they had overcome.

Today, I share one of these incredible stories with you. It moved me deeply and filled me with gratitude. On “Touched by an Angel,” we used to say that coincidence is God’s way of remaining anonymous. In this story, you will see how God showed up for one young woman, and how each of us can be used by God to be a blessing for someone else.

“Box of Butterflies” will be available for purchase on March 6, 2018. Visit boxofbutterflies.com to learn more about the book, watch exclusive videos and pre-order your own copy.
