Today, we’re talking leadership. And who better to hear from about the role of a leader than Bobbie Houston, author and co-senior pastor of Hillsong Church. In this video, Bobbie reflects on the next generation of leaders and how they look to those who are older than them; “…[T]hey want us to be comfortable in our skin,” she says. We are often telling young people to be comfortable in their own skin, she explains, but it’s not easy. RELATED ARTICLE: The One Thing Future #GirlBosses Can't Forget It requires encouragement. And not inauthentic encouragement, but a genuine culture of encouragement, something that Bobbie herself has worked hard to cultivate within her ministry at Hillsong. She understands its importance, saying that it “…changes the atmosphere in a room, in a conversation.” A good leader, Bobbie reveals, is a magnetic force for the good. At the core of her being, she knows she is called to “love the Lord Jesus Christ, to love people…to love life.” It’s her mission to live this calling out, to demonstrate it in her actions and to help people see the good in a world that faces extremely difficult times. “People need to not just be told; they need to see it in action, they need to feel it,” she reminds us. We love her advice for future leaders: “Take your eyes off yourself and be mindful.” And there’s more! Watch the video above for more insightful advice from Bobbie Houston on how to best step into your role as a leader.
