Can animals teach us how to be better humans? Of course, they can! This episode of Animal Classroom is dedicated to the horse, illustrating the incredible lessons they can teach humans about how to live more fulfilling lives.

The “Mr. Ed” theme song suggested that no one can talk to a horse (unless that horse was Mr. Ed of course), but to that, I say, “Neigh, I disagree!” There are ample ways to communicate your love and care to horses. However, if you approach them with fear-tactics and control, they will not be coaxed into doing what you want of them.

Instead, their environment needs to be stable-ized in order for them to be confident and fully trainable. They need to feel respected so that they can relax and allow their caretakers to instruct and train them. Do you find that people respond better when made to feel valued and respected rather than controlled?

Horses are also amazing feminists! If you are inspired when you hear stories about women in leadership, you may be delighted to discover that horses also create matriarchal communities—each herd is led by a female mare leader and a stallion who defends her.

Horses are incredible creatures who add so much joy to the lives of those who care for them. Not one trick pony to be found here! Check out this video to learn more fun facts about these amazing equine animals.
