With Hurricane Florence quickly approaching landfall, Christine Meinhold couldn’t afford to leave town with her seven rescue dogs.

Vowing never to abandon them but knowing her car wouldn’t make it very far, she hoped for the best.

After telling her story to CNN, people from all over the country came to the rescue. Elaine Sloan and Trudy Schilder put their resources together and rented Christine a Uhaul to drive the 7 dogs and herself to safety. 

Grateful for the strangers’ help, Christine is now back safely home after a long journey with her wonderful furry family.

“When I rescued these dogs, I took on a responsibility of loving and caring for them the rest of their lives,” said Christine.
