In what many are calling a suicide mission, Lyu Jun, a Chinese doctor, was photographed embracing his wife for he knows could be the last time.
In an honorable gesture, Jun made the sacrificial decision to tend to victims of the Coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan Province with no guarantee that he would ever return again, that he would ever hold his wife again, that he would ever know old age. A reality that is palpable, heartbreaking and breathtakingly inspirational in the photo shared by Historium Podcast with the caption, “Lyu Jun, a Chinese doctor, saying goodbye to his wife before going to the Wuhan province to treat Coronavirus patients.”
As the Coronavirus outbreak sends the world stage into high alert lockdown, its moments like these that keep hope and light in the hearts of man as fear grips so many.
“Look for the helpers,” is what Mr. Rodgers always used to say. And this photo, this embrace, this sacrifice marks the sea of helpers working tirelessly in the darkness of this harrowing moment that is the Coronavirus.
Will you join us in praying for Lyu Jun, his wife, the countless men and women around the world sacrificing and loving, and also for the victims and their families as they weather outbreak and loss.
