True love knows no bounds. In sickness and in health takes on a new meaning when you are diagnosed with cancer. This couple beat all the odds, as a boyfriend turned husband, walked with his beloved as she underwent chemo.

Jillian Hanson met Max Allegretti in college recalling, “I knew he was the one after a month of us dating. I never usually move that fast, but something about him was different.” Little did she know how deep their love would eventually go.

Jillian was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer at age 25. Jillian spoke to Max about it knowing the long journey ahead and offered him an “out.” Max didn’t take it. “He told me that he would never leave my side. And he never has. He told me that I was the strongest woman he knew and that this whole experience has made him love me more,” she shared.

Jillian underwent a mastectomy, fertility treatments, numerous rounds of chemotherapy and radiation and plastic surgery. “He took care of me every day and reminded me how beautiful I was—even as my hair thinned and fell out, and my skin turned white as a ghost.”

Max ended up proposing to Jillian on the last day of her treatments. “I was thinking about it for a long time,” said Max. Adding, “I spoke with her family and friends, and we all decided it would bring a lot more joy even to the special day it was going to be already.” Jillian and Max were married last year, with a beautiful wedding all expenses paid for by LLG Events in support of this incredible couple.
