Affectionately named “Negro,” this black labrador is paying for biscuits at his local convenience cafeteria with leaves! Negro hangs out at the Diversified Technical Education Institute of Monterrey Casanare in Colombia. He sees students exchanging money for cookies and he wants in on the action.

Teacher Angela Garcia Bernal tells The Dodo, “He would go to the store and watch the children give money and receive something in exchange. Then one day, spontaneously, he appeared with a leaf in his mouth, wagging his tail and letting it be known that he wanted a cookie.”

Negro is watched over by the school’s faculty. They help him out with food and shelter. Gladys Barreto, the store attendant says, “He comes for cookies every day. He always pays with a leaf. It is his daily purchase,” What an intelligent pup worthy of all the love and affection!
