Chip and Jo Are Back with Details on Their New Network with Discovery

Chip and Jo are on schedule for their new network launching in 2020. This network is in partnership with Discovery, Inc. From restaurants to markets, bakeries to furniture stores this dynamic duo is not stopping anything soon.

When we think of Chip and Jo we think family farm life, design and construction with wholesome country living. Similar to their signature authentic home town style represented in the pages of Magnolia magazine, Joanna explains about the network “We loved this idea of connecting with people in a different way telling other people’s stories, curating content.” She continues, “It felt to us a lot like what we do love with the magazine, but on a different playing field.”

The Gaines’ family will be featured with their own reality type show alongside a diverse library of creative content living on the network. Chip states, “The difference moving forward is Jo and I are going to be able to tell more of our life stories. And so, as opposed to it being a very narrow vein in our universe, which is obviously construction and design and the things we do for a living, for us we feel like there’s a more holistic story to be told here, and that’s what we’re going to focus on.”

David Zaslav the CEO of Discovery won the bidding war about working with the Gaines’. He opened up about why they were chosen stating, “They have that unique authenticity, and there just aren’t that many of them,” Zaslav remarks. Adding “They have real views and opinions on bringing up children, on cooking, on diet, on faith, on education, on design. They have a lot to say.”

Allison Page who will be headlining the network at Discovery discloses “What they do and know and love certainly incorporates home and design and construction, but that’s just a piece of it.” Page adds, “We’ll have stories about family and community, food, garden, of course, design, wellness, entrepreneurialism. There are so many facets, at least in television, that people have not seen from them.”

Chip shares with USA today, “‘Fixer Upper’ touched people in ways that Jo and I would never have imagined in a million years.” Going on to state, “We were just doing our jobs; we didn’t go out with this mission statement to conquer the world or to be a household name. None of those things were objectives of ours.” We love the nationwide reach their brand is gaining, and wish this faith forward couple the best of luck with the new network.
