We Love You, Carrie—A Love Letter to Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood is arguably the current queen of Country music. In addition to having a voice of an angel, she radiates God’s beauty in everything she does when she steps off the stage.

Dear Carrie Underwood,

You burst onto the scene and into our hearts when you won American Idol 2005. Since then, you’ve gone on to be the best-selling American Idol winner of all time. You’re a main-staple at countless awards shows, taking home seven Grammys as well as hundreds of other nominations and awards. You’re a superstar in the Country genre, but we love when you cross genres as well. It came as no surprise when “Before He Cheats” dominated both the country and pop charts.

While we love everything about your music, you’re the full package off-stage as well. We could rave for days about all that we admire about you, but here are a few things that most impress us:

You’re building a beautiful family

You’ve been committed to your marriage to hockey player Mike Fisher for eight years. Any time you do joint interviews it’s impossible not to see how much love and respect you have for each other.

You’re a loving mother to your son Isaiah and we loved when announced that you’re pregnant again! You’ve spoken so vulnerably about the pain of enduring three miscarriages in two years, serving as a beacon of hope to others who have endured heartache while building their families. Your recent pregnancy announcement video had us in tears.

You’re a woman of faith

You regularly speak about your faith in Christ and it’s clear that a mutual love for Jesus is the bedrock of your marriage. Opening up to Oprah on Super Soul Sunday you and your husband answer Oprah when asked, “how big of a role does God play in your life?” We loved your response here:

You love animals

As a young girl, you had a massive heart for animals and felt reluctant to eat beef. At 22 you committed to being “basically vegan.” In addition to living a vegan lifestyle, you’re a loving dog-mom to two rescues: Ace and Penny.

You’re a philanthropist

It’s not enough for you to adopt rescue dogs and live on a plant-based diet. Your love for animals is so strong that you founded the Checotah Animal, Town, and School Foundation (C.A.T.S. Foundation)working to beautify Checotah Oklahoma, including improving animal shelter conditions in your hometown.

There’s no shortage of ways you give back. Some (but not all) of your philanthropy includes: volunteering at dog shelters, visiting children at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, donating to Save The Children, committing a portion of your ticket sales to the Red Cross, raising human trafficking awareness via the End It Movement, and recording a special song (“Just Stand Up!”) with other superstar musicians to benefit Stand Up To Cancer. Giving back is second nature to you.

You’ve overcome adversary

In November 2017 you fell in a freak accident while taking your dogs for a walk and the injury was severe. Suffering a broken wrist and requiring 40+ stitches on your face, you were open about the trauma and how challenging it was to recover. We’re so glad that you’re fully healed and back in action. Your capacity to overcome these injuries inspires us that we can get through our own trials as well.

Carrie, we love everything you do both on stage and off. You’re an inspiration to us. We can’t wait to see you bring home your new baby and shine in all your musical endeavors!
